Litter Picks & Street Champions

There are a number of ways you can help keep Kenley litter free.

Street Champions:

‘The Clean and Green Street Champions are a network of residents who have volunteered to improve the environment in our local area. Champions are local people who work alongside Croydon Council and its partners to encourage their fellow residents and businesses to recycle more, manage their waste responsibly and reduce instances of environmental crime. As a Street Champion you will receive the equipment you need including a picker, gloves, vest and bags. They will also arrange for the litter to be collected from you.  More information  on how to sign up on the council’s website Street Champions

Kendra Litter Picks:

(Please note picks have been suspended temporarily while we obtain public liabilty insurance) These events are carried out with the co-operation of Croydon Council’s ‘Don’t mess With Croydon’ team, who provide equipment such as gloves, pickers, bags and high visibility tabards. We meet up in the car park at Kenley Station, usually on a Sunday around 10am. If you would like to know when the next litter pick takes place please email litter@kenleyra.org.uk or sign up to the Kendra Planning Newsletter.

Individual Picks:

Some residents do their own litter picks in addition, or instead of, the ones organised by Kendra. If this is something you would like to do please remember that you are liable for your own safety and that of others. Kendra takes no responsibility

Pick your own patch:

Of course if every resident took responsibility for the area outside their own home, and kept it litter free, then the litter picks could concentrate on those other communal areas.

Blow your whistle:

We ask all residents to help combat littering and fly tipping. If you see this happening or want to report an incident then please go to our information page on Rubbish & Litter.
