Crime in Kenley April 2023

This information is a summary of the newsletter received from the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Burglary– Two burglary offences took place in April. Both in Wattendon Road.

The first on 7th April when entry was gained through a side gate, the rear patio door was smashed. After an untidy search and some jewellery was stolen. The second incident was on 16th April and involved an attempted burglary; a window frame had been marked believed to be done with a crowbar.

Local Police want residents to identify any weak points on their premises and do everything possible to improve the security of their property.

Motor Vehicle Crime – There were six motor vehicle crimes recorded on the Met’s system in April.

Three of these were thefts of number plates in Roke Road (4th April), Highland Road (11th April), Wontford Road (17th April). Please make sure that number plates are securely screwed to help prevent further crimes.

One vehicle in Valley Road had its window smashed on 1st April. A motorbike was stolen in Haydn Avenue on 8th April, but has since been recovered. A car was stolen from Mosslea Road on 10th April.

Violence against the person– 2 malicious communications, 1 Assaults Occasioning Actual
Bodily Harm, 1 harassment

Domestic Abuse – The Metropolitan Police would like to draw specific attention to domestic abuse. They have produced an informative publication for anyone affected or who suspect domestic abuse.
