A22 Godstone Road Closed For Six Weeks

SES Water has begun its works in Purley. The road will be closed until 3rd September. There is no vehicle access between the railway bridge near the Tesco entrance and the traffic lights just before the junction with Downs Court Road. The Foxley Hill Road and Dale Road junctions are also closed.

The rear entrance to Purley Station is accessible from both Downs Court Road and Godstone Road, but Warren Road has been blocked at the bend before Approach Road to prevent unsuitable vehicles using it as a cut through.

The Shell petrol station is still accessible via Foxley Hill Road and the shops on Godstone road can be reached on foot. Pedestrian access is also possible to the rear of Purley station.

Warren Road barred to traffic

The 407 bus route is still operating but is now split either side of Purley station. Passengers have to walk through the roadworks to continue their journey, the Caterham bound side leaves from the rear entrance of Purley station.

The main concern amongst residents has been the re-routing of HGVs. The works have been deliberately timed to coincide with the school holidays to lessen the traffic volumes in the area.
