Litter Pick on 14th January
Have you made any resolutions for the new year? If not how about getting involved in our litter picks? Please join our Litter Pick on 14th January. Meet at 10.30 in Kenley Station Car Park. Pickers, hi-vis vests, bags and gloves provided.
As the days are darker, ensure all due care is taken when collecting litter. You MUST wear the hi-vis vests provided, your safety is your responsibility. Let’s make 2018 a litter free year for Kenley.
Another resolution could be to reduce plastic use. Litter Free World (www.litterfreeworld.org) wants us all to consider the consequences of our use of plastics. So much of our plastic consumption is completely unnecessary and adds to our need for landfill. Reduce, reuse, recycle. We recycle, and sometimes reuse, but the real reward is to reduce. It’s harder to do, but if we all do a little the effect can be huge. As the photo shows our use of packaging in general is out of control. Start the change today!
Could you be a Champion?
If you are a compulsive litter picker like me, then become a real champion and do a voluntary pick, maybe on a daily, weekly or fortnightly basis, or whenever suits. Your reward will be a your own litter picker, bags and bag holder, provided by Kendra. We’ll even arrange for your litter bags to be collected by the council too. We need about a dozen champions across Kenley ward, but this is for the committed only. If you have what it takes then contact me by email firstname.lastname@example.org
Stamp Out Litter – £1,000,000,000 REWARD!
Litter costs UK tax-payers (that’s you and me) £1bn per year. We need to educate our community that litter is bad for us, both physically and psychologically. Children need to be taught littering is wrong. It’s also an offence. When our volunteers are out picking up litter we get positive comments from residents. It shows residents care even if they don’t take part in our litter picks. We are committed to keeping our streets litter free and care what Kenley looks like. So please help.
