Kenley Memorial Hall is run by its Trustees and holds its AGM every June. Last year's meeting was held
against a backdrop of escalating violence against the Hall. The Hall is not a symbol of authority but one of
the freedom that was fought for during two world wars. It is Kenley's War Memorial. It does not earn anything
against which any vengeance should be waged. Above all KMH is our Community Centre.
Since an appeal for donations and a small surplus made for the past two years, funds are sufficient for the
time being for KMH to prosper. Charges have been increased slightly but remain very competitive.
As a facility for use by the community it has everything necessary; it continually meets the standards of
hygiene required for Council certification and also has a great stage. But is everyone aware that it is there
and that all can use it? Hiring the hall is not expensive and the scale of charges is available from the
caretaker. Parking is limited but the stationmaster has allowed free use of the station car park at weekends.
The future of KMH is very much up to the Trustees but, as far as KENDRA is concerned, we will fight to
preserve our very pretty and much loved village hall.
