RAF Kenley Salute - Sunday 20th May '12 at 15:30

Weather permitting, there will be a flypast over Kenley Airfield by a single Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial flight. This date commemorates the arrival of No. 416 Spitfire Squadron, part of the Canadian Wing, which was based here at Kenley in 1943. We hope that the aircraft concerned will be AB910 because it is an aircraft the actually flew with the Canadian Squadron. We have also been informed that the pilot already allocated to fly is Wg Cdr Paul Godfrey who we profiled in Newsletter No 7. He is a Kenley boy having been brought up in Fairoak Close, just off Firs Road. Paul owes everything to his father taking him to the 1978 Air Day when his ambition to fly was moulded. He is certainly living his dream as a Typhoon pilot and sometimes understudying the Station Commander at Coningsby as well as working with BBMF. He wants to be on every opportunity to fly in displays at Kenley and ultimately to land a Hurricane or Spitfire here.

Please come and give a wave as he flies over, and to make sure that you don't miss him, come early!

Remembrance Sunday - 11th November '12

As usual there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the RAF Kenley Tribute on the airfield. This is usually well attended and we expect it to continue this way.
